Enhancing Scholarship

The Public Goods Council enhances faculty teaching at the University of Michigan by expanding the scope of educational offerings, making available extensive research resources, and providing instructional settings far removed from the conventional classroom. By promoting partnerships with community residents and groups, the PGC enables faculty members to share their knowledge and resources with a broader spectrum of "learners."

In addition, the Public Goods Council provides opportunities for individual faculty members to deepen theDocumentsir own knowledge, further their professional development, and refine their teaching skills through collaborative programs with well-known speakers, accomplished performers, and world-famous artists. Collaboratively, PGC members connect the faculty to ideas, recorded memories, performers, and literary and artistic expressions.

Arts at Michigan initiatives provide subsidy funding for arts-based course enhancements. Working with the Digital Library Production Service and its programs, the Museum of Art has delivered information and digital images for all 14,000 objects in its collections, which are readily available online to the faculty, students and outside researchers.
