Environmental sustainability at the University of Michigan is comprised of many facets and spans across the life and work of our students, faculty, staff, and administration.

The commitment of the University of Michigan’s community to environmental sustainability finds expression in multiple campus-wide activities. These include the work of schools and colleges and multiple centers and institutes conducting research and development of:
  • Environmental technical, business, and policy solutions
  • Advancing the basic knowledge of our planet and biodiversity
  • Advocacy for environmental responsibility within the University as well as beyond the boundaries of our community
  • Improving the University’s overall environmental operational performance
  • Reducing the University’s ecological footprint
