The goal of the Institute’s outreach program is to increase awareness of Michigan’s environmental research and education capabilities and to demonstrate the University’s involvement and contribution to the global community at large. Michigan’s high quality assets – museums, field stations, and laboratories – are an integral element of U-M’s outreach contribution to sustainability. Initiatives either underway or under consideration include:
  • Web featured U-M Environmental Stewardship and Campus Sustainability Programs including links to key programs on campus.
  • Collaboration with the schools of Education, COE, LS&A, and SNRE to leverage present and develop new K-12 teacher and student education and community education programs. NGO linkages and utilization of U-M museums and field stations will be explored.
  • Community or company sustainability projects utilizing student internships, and longer- term, cooperative research projects with U-M faculty.
  • Information Workshops and Media Access that will enhance U-M's leadership by providing easier access to renowned faculty in the field. Environmental sustainability workshops are envisioned that provide multiple stakeholders, including policy makers, regional planners, and the community at large with science-based information relative to the environment.
Your ideas are welcome. Please contact us at graham-institute@umich.edu.
