5.I Resignations

5.I.1 Instructional Faculty

Although recruitment activity for regular instructional faculty occurs throughout the year, it is expected that instructional faculty will not give notice of resignation after April 30 for the subsequent fall term, or after the fourth month preceding the beginning of any other academic term. An exception may be considered provided the date in which the resignation is to take effect is agreeable to the administrative head of the college, school, or institute that the individual will be leaving.

5.I.2 Research Faculty, Librarians, Archivists, and Curators

It is expected that any individual in a research faculty (Research Professor or Research Scientist), librarian, archivist, or curator appointment (all ranks) who is resigning will give at least one month's notice to the employing unit. Because of required processing time, the University expects any individual in this group who is planning to retire to give at least three months' notice.
