15.L Life InsuranceThe University offers a choice of group term life insurance plans to eligible faculty and staff members with appointments of 50% or more for four or more consecutive months. The University Life Insurance Plan is a $30,000 plan and is paid by the University. Newly hired or newly eligible faculty and staff will be enrolled automatically in the plan on their service date. Faculty may choose from several coverage options under the Optional Life Insurance Plan. Premiums are paid in full by the faculty member and are based on age, salary, and whether the faculty member is a non-smoker or smoker. For those enrolling within 60 days of their date of eligibility, coverage is effective on their service date. For persons enrolling after 60 days, insurance coverage will be effective on the date evidence of good health is approved by the insurance carrier. Dependent Group Term Life Insurance coverage is available for the faculty members spouse or other qualified adult partner and dependent children (SPG 203.04).
