Budget and Resource Management Academy

The Budget and Resource Management Academy was developed in 2007 and piloted in 2008.  We plan to continue offering the Academy each Fall.

The goal of the Budget and Resource Management Academy is to better prepare high potential staff members for critical positions in budget and resource management.  The Academy is seeking to deepen and enhance the budget and finance knowledge base of these staff members, to aid in the overall improvement of the financial management of our units, and to reinforce responsible stewardship of U-M resources.

Important information regarding the Academy is summarized below.  For additional information see Program Overview and Nomination Process.

  • The program consists of five learning modules and will be offered in several sessions beginning in September and running through mid-December.

  • Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.

  • Pre-work will be required prior to most sessions.

  • Participants will be expected to actively participate in the activities and discussions of the group and to share his/her own experiences and knowledge. This may involve informally presenting findings and conclusions from small group exercises to the larger cohort.
  • Selection into the Academy is based on the results of a nomination process. The nomination process for the 2010 offering of the Academy will take place in the Spring of 2010. Additional information will be forthcoming.
  • A limited number of spaces are available for the program.
