Kathleen (Kati) Bauer

Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Information

Kati Bauer assists the Vice Provost, John King, as the Information Technology (IT) liaison for the University, answering questions and arranging for assistance as needed. She helps review and makes recommendations on IT policies. Additionally, she worked with a committee that created the new University-wide copyright policy and a web site that focuses on copyright issues, advice, and concerns; and the committee that created a new policy regarding spoofed and spammed email. She continues to work with a committee that looks at issues of privacy that may affect UM students, faculty and staff; and yet another that deals with issues related to IT security.

No stranger to the world of IT, Kati worked for the University's chief information officer from 1997 to 2001. Prior to that, she worked for the Information Technology Division for nine years in various roles. Kati also worked for University Audits for six years—coordinating the University's Standard Practice Guide. All-in-all, Kati has worked for the University for 32 years.

Kati is a bonded notary public, sings in her church choir, owns her own quilting business (creating custom quilts and teaching beginning piecing classes), and loves reading, landscaping, attending UM football games, and walking her dogs. Kati also holds an Associate's degree in Construction Management, occasionally working with her husband's construction business in Chelsea, Michigan.
